New Andy! That's just WRONG!

Michael Carbonaro was the best part of the 1st one. He was hilarious, cute, and sweet at the same time. I'm sad that it's looking more and more like he's not in the sequal. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but from what the cast listing says and what the other posts are implying is that he's not in this one. *sigh*

reply

You're right, Mr. Carbonaro is not returning. Jake Mosser (pronounced Mo-zsher), who plays Andy in the sequel, is also hilarious, cute, and sweet... otherwise he would not have been cast to fill such wonderful shoes.Just suspend your judgment until the new one comes out, friend. I promise you good times.

reply

I kind of get the impression that some of the original actors didn't want to return for this movie. It just gives new people a chance.

reply

thank you. it's a great opportunity for some new kids to show off their stuff. all these people freaking out need to pop a chill lozenge and relax... after all, it's only a movie.

reply

OK, you can't expect people, who grew to adore these characters and actors from the first movie, not be upset that their favorites are not returning for the sequel.

reply

exactly! if they couldn't return they should've just left it as the first one and that's it. the original cast was the best part. the BEST part. it's like replacing darrin on bewitched as though we wouldn't notice... sorry i couldn't think of another situation where they just randomly replaced someone like we wouldn't notice. but yeah i love the direct and i LOVE the first movie so i'll see it but i'm a little disappointed

reply

I'm sure the film makers wanted the original actors to return, but they didn't. Would you really prefer that the sequel never get made? BTW, the first Darrin left because of health problems (he passed out on set, ended up in the hospital which is where he quit the show.).

Sometimes the original actors CAN'T return, or don't want to return.

reply

If you're like me then you probably didn't know most of the actors in the first one either. Hopefully Todd Stephens found some other great new guys for this one, and you'll get to complain all over again when these new guys aren't in the third movie!

reply

How about it's like when they re-cast julianne moore in place of jodi foster in hannibal! lol THAT was super noticeable and quite annoying, cause Jodie was IT in Silence of the Lambs lol

reply

exactly i was a little perturbed to see that the originals weren't going to return for the sequel guess we'll have to wait til the movie is released this summer

reply

Sequels should only be made if the original actors are going to return. If you have to do a total recast it just dumb and pointless. Recasting all the main characters just sucks!

here here! it kind of kills it for me

I saw the Work in Progress in Miami - its actually really funny and strangely sweet and 100% fun, even though it wasn't finished. The new cast is really appealing. It follows the sequel rules. Michael Cabronaro is a cutie...but Jake Moser is so cute in a different way.

And Jonah....he really knocks it out of the ballpark.

reply

I loved the first cast! This is just wrong and I am betting it is because the original cast members asked for more money. Or, maybe they looked 20 instead of 19 1/2: god forbid.

I will see the sequel, but only because I am weak.

wswj519 is right, recasting all but one of the main characters (Nico is still Mr. Blechman) just, royally, sucks!

reply

Hey guys, it's Ashlie Atkinson (Muffler) here, totally outing myself as a board troll on movies I'm in (sue me, my fridge is empty and I'm bored). And here's the deal, as I understand it:

Some of the original boys were initially planning to do the movie -- and one had already said he wouldn't. But then dates got pushed around, a lot of people had schedule conflicts, some had pissy management, and some (like me, for example) were busy with jobs we got from being in the first film. And Todd and co. couldn't work around everybody and get the movie finished with the available budget. So they rounded up a new group of fellas (with the BRILLIANT Jonah Blechman returning as Nico), got some fantastic cameo actors, and headed to the beach.

I understand it feels weird, when another boy comes to take the place of the one who stole your heart. It hurts. It's just not the same, you say. But give it a chance. Film crushes, like ass-lovin, should not be rushed into. I bet you'll chirp a different tune when you see how hot these boys are, and how funny the story is.

You were the best part of the first movie. When I want to be turned on I look to my boyfriend or porn. When I want to laugh I watch a comedy. The first film was mildly sexy and mildly funny...... (except for the hilarious moments featuring your character).

You're the only reason I'll be seeing the second one!

Well, I don't know that I agree with the statement that sequels shouldn't be made if the original actors aren't going to return (does that mean that "The Dark Knight" should have been canned because Katie Holmes isn't back???), but I am a little disappointed that not just one, but THREE of the original four actors, are not returning for the sequel. I mean, that's just silly. Evidently the actors were uncomfortable doing "another gay movie." LOL! I hope they at least poke fun at the recasting in the movie. Like "Wow, Andy, you sure do look different this morning." :)

Michael Carbonaro MADE the first film. He's the most "unreplaceable" actor from the first film. Really too bad he's not in the new one. He's funny, easy on the eyes, and talented. I will miss him , but I'm willing to give the new Andy a chance. But Michael Carbonaro will be a hard act to follow.

reply

I saw the movie and I must say that none of the new actors are in any way better or equally as good as the actors from the first movie.

Michael C. brought a great over the top comedy dynamic to his role which his replacement is lacking. From my point of view I believed that Michael's Andy was a dork while Jake's Andy is way too handsome and not (over the top) funny enough for this very role. Jake's attempt to play dorky seemed not funny but seriously awkward. Don't get me wrong: Jake Mosser is a very nice looking guy and I am sure with the right role he can show off his awesome talents, but I just don't think he was the right one for this screwball comedy heavy role.

But I would like to add that I think it sucks that some of the actors of the first movie chickened out, because they fear of limiting their TV/movie career.

money can`t buy you back the love that you had then - Feist "1 2 3 4"

reply

Chickened out? Try again! I think he's an even better actor for dodging that bullet. Smart. Very smart.

reply

The new Andy was okay. He had the essence of the character from the first one, but in my opinion the geeky, lovable gay guy persona just didn't suit the new actor.

Zydrate comes in a little glass vial, and the Zydrate goes into the gun like a battery....

reply

I found the new Andy nowhere near as attractive or appealing. I mean, when it comes to recasting, they could have at least tried to find actors who resembled the first. They looked so different it took me a long time to get used to it. I am guessing that was one of the big jokes in the movie- that these actors look nothing like the ones in the first.

reply

I honestly liked all of the new actors more...

This is gonna *beep* do for him what "Jade" did for David Caruso.
