Can anyone explain the ending? (spoilers)

Sorry, I was rather tired when I watched it, so I don't think I completely got it.
The movie kind of reminded me of Jean-Paul Sartre's play "No Exit" and its punchline "hell is other people". The plot of 3 people locked in one room is also very similar.

So this was hell, right? But I didn't get the ending with the people in prison. Were they watching one of the characters' execution or something?

You're not alone. I never really got the ending either. As far as I could work out the people watching the unfolding events were relatives of the victims, but if this is so how comes the woman survived?

unless she has to go from prison cell to prision cell time and again with no memory of pervious events and has to watch her fellow prisoners being poisioned by her weapon of choice and being left with the guilt of what she has done.

reply

Yeah, it's a modern execution. Relatives of the victims watch these three people torture each other / kill each other, similar to No Exit.

In the script the photos played a larger role, tying the victims to the relatives of the victims. Then when see the crowd you say, "Oh, those are the relatives. This must be an execution."

Hope that helps.

reply

Ah, okay... So somebody executed these 3 villains by blanking their memories, giving them back their murder weapons, locking them up together in one cell and letting the relatives of their victims watch as they turn on each other?

Hmm, that makes sense - and saves the salary for the hangman!
