OT: "How?" vs "Why?"

We can figure out how trees grow on this planet and how they came to be on this planet but what or who even CAN decide why they grow on this planet?

Or we can take these message boards being shut down as another example.

We can say how it is being shut down and we can say how it came to be being shut down either with short and sweet "The people in charge wanted to shut it down and are doing so." or in great detail reaching back through human history to before atoms and photons existed but as to why they are being shut down, who or what even CAN decide why anything on this planet is happening the way it's happening?

The people in charge can give their reason for shutting the message boards down and you can be satisfied that answers why it's being done but that's no different from asking "Why do trees grow on this planet?" and being satisfied with "Because humans grow them for food."

You're asking the wrong question.

I'm not really asking a question, I'm making the claim that "why" has never really been answered.

Evolution. Trees exist because evolution.

Edit: And IMDb is shutting down the boards because of people like you.

Sorry, evolution is just part of the how. It's not the why.

And if you want to lump me in with the trolls, want away, friend. I'm just trying to clue you in.

Except you're not trying to clue me or anyone else in. You're hoping someone finds the heaps of guano you spew forth insightful. If you want to know why trees exist then research trees. If you want to know why the IMDb boards are shutting down read this http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000042/thread/265718394?d=265736951#265736951 and this http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000042/nest/265706940?p=11&d=265745459#265745459.

Also you still haven't asked the right question.

reply

No. Evolution is both how and why.
