this movie.... ehhh!

it's pretty generic, that's what i'm trying to say. the plot's predictable, the writing's not all that great, the characters are... okay, but they could've SO much better and it's not that funny. sure, there are a few jokes that did make me laugh, but i can't really call this a funny movie. and there were a couple of scenes where i was like "Okay... this is kinda boring". i did like the animation in this movie, it was good to look at. so it's not dogs**t, but it's a really forgettable movie.

I love it simply because of the characters and music. VERY catchy, danceable, fun songs, and cool character designs & animation...which could have been drastically improved upon with a Disney/Pixar-sized budget. The plot is fairly thin and cliche, but it was a unique and interesting enough animated dog/animal movie to compel me to buy the DVD. As you said, the writing's okay and the humor isn't gut-busting, but all in all I think it's good for a low-budget Indian film. The Alpha & Omega movies aren't too much better in most respects (and I enjoy those too.)

in my eyes, the Alpha and Omega movies are better than this. cause those movies were more focused and were funnier and were less generic. Roadside Romeo just didn't work for me. i found it generic, not so funny and at times lazy. sure, the characters were okay, some of the jokes did make me chuckle and the songs were catchy, but it still wasn't enough.

Fair enough. I mostly like Romeo thanks to the characters, songs, & semi-originality of the style. It isn't an extremely well-made film otherwise, and the fact that I'm a particularly big fan of animation & animal movies makes me more generous toward it than some other people are disposed to be. Alpha & Omega is a little closer to the standard American animated film, which may be part of why it was actually released in theaters here.

If Romeo does get a sequel...and even though the first wasn't exactly a huge success, I remember there being a big premiere event, and the Disney connection might just prompt whichever Indian filmmakers did the first one to go for it...I admit I will be really excited about it.

i doubt it. A&O earned a cult following and was a box office hit, so of course the sequels were gonna be made. Roadside Romeo on the other hand flopped both in India and in the US, so i doubt a sequel's ever gonna get made.

...Sadness. I guess I kinda doubt it too, but one might surprise us yet.
I remember the theatrical release of A&O. It was so underpublicized, and I was shocked that it didn't go directly to DVD. But I guess enough other animation- and animal-obsessed people like me saw it that they added a few little sequels. Amazon & Netflix informed me of those, thankfully.

like i said: A&O had a lot more charm and entertainment to it. Roadside Romeo just felt bland and not-really-smart, which is probably why it got bad reviews and it bombed

Again, valid opinion. Romeo wasn't critically acclaimed, and I can understand why...I didn't think they were even considering a sequel. One would make me very happy, but I haven't been expecting it.

I'm definitely an A&O fan, though I'll admit to finding them kind of cliche, formulaic, and predictable. The characters are likable and fun enough for me to just enjoy it, though.
