Was it revealed anywhere what the murder allegations were that caused Ami and Yu's parents to kill themselves?

Nope. It's not really that important in and of itself. It just sets up Ami and her brother as being outsiders.

I found it hilarious how they never went into any backstory, and how easily and matter-of-factly that information was given. They really made no effort to hide that they wanted to throw some details at the viewer, but couldnt think of any good dialogue to do it in a way that would make any sense at all.
Also, DO YOU WANT UNUSUAL CONDITIONER?
I thought it was a plot point that would eventually circle back to the Yakuza clan they were seeking for revenge (maybe setting up their parents to take the fall for a murder)...surprised it never did.
