Wow - I can't believe how unknown this seems

I stumbled across this almost by accident and watched it with zero expectations. Perhaps that's partly the reason, but I found it to be a clever, different and rewarding experience.

How is this film so far below the radar? It's miles better than half the crap out there and it angers me that films like Sex and the City 2 are getting massive exposure.

Arggggghhhhh

Because it's basically like watching High Fidelity without it being as witty. I know, Valentines Day stole from Love Actually and it got in the public view, but that was only because it had a good producer and got such a huge cast. Seriously, if you think this sounds good, just skip it and watch High Fidelity.

Really? I thought it was 500 Days Of Summer with less humour. It even had two architect main characters and the exact same final five minutes.

I originally wrote "less emotion" before I edited this post but then I remembered the bit with Gemma's letter. That touched me more than anything in 500 Days Of Summer.

I've seen "High Fidelity" many times, even when it was first run in the theater. This low budget rough movie has a LOT MORE truth in it's core and acting, and completely engrossed me in away that happens when I see something that has crossed into new territory as far as commenting/abstracting on real experience.

"High Fidelity" was a great movie, but still didn't cross over from being just that: a theatrical movie in terms of the conflict and characters it portrayed. Having very famous actors didn't help it either.

This was actually intense in that the behavior and "real life" portions were completely realistic and truthful. Very, almost infuriatingly insightful. It must be a great novel.
