At the beginning of the film you see Carl, probably at around 10 years old, watching Muntz when he is probably 40 (both ''young'' and old version look exactly the same). and in the end i'd think Carl is 80 years old, isnt Muntz supposed to be like 110 years old then?
Yeah, that doesn't make any sense. What Pixar should've done was make Muntz a child explorer. Like the announcer could say that he's the world's youngest explorer or something similar. But either way, I think it's a goof that's worth overlooking.
Do you know this because it is explicitly stated in the film, or did you make this up?
Both the young Muntz and old Muntz look exactly the same, the young muntz looks way older than 25, and i'm pretty sure it is stated that Carl is an octogenarian, which is way older than 65.
I dont know if what you said is actually true and stated in the film, but i find it hard to believe, i've also seen Up probably 5 times and i should remember hearing them state the age of both characters. But i didnt
The kids look about ten. I just used logic. Muntz isn't older than 80 or 85 because people don't live that long usually-and definitely aren't as sprightful as Muntz was....
@The following ages have been confirmed by director Pete Docter (via Lee Unkrich's twitter). At the beginning of the film, Carl is 9 years old and Charles Muntz is 23. So, when they meet later in the film, Carl is now 78 years old and Muntz is 92!" Jul 13, 2009
