Was the guy playing her father Sushmita Mukherjee? His IMDB info page doesn't have much info on it.
"Sushmita Mukherjee" obviously seems like an Indian name but after seeing this film I came here to pose the question as to why they couldn't cast an Indian as her father? This guy looks like an American. Throughout the film I assumed he was an American with a fake accent.
When I said I wanted to be a comedian, they all laughed at me. Well, they're not laughing now!
Anupam Kher (whom you likely saw as the dad in Bend It Like Beckham) played Priya's dad. He generally looks pretty white, but especially in this movie. As for Sushmita, when I checked that name on IMDB, I got an actress. :(

Priya's dad is a legendary Bollywood actor. He's extremely talented and versatile, but I prefer him in Hindi films. He did a good job in the movie, but he really kicks ass in Hindi movies.
