but did anyone else think Boyz N The Hood when the boy gets shot. Similarities are uncanny:
-2 friends split up
-one kid is running in an alley
-car pulls up and shoots the boy
-not to mention the fact that Ricky and Mike were both star athletes.
Most Tyler Perry movies steal from other black classics. "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" was part "Waiting to Exhale," part "The Color Purple," and some other movies I can't remember right now.

I think that was intentional. Because of that familiar scene, it never crossed my mind that he would survive much less play ball again. His recovery was such a pleasant surprise and felt that much sweeter I think because of the way the shooting scene was set up.
