This movie rocked

Just watched it on Netflix. Wish I could buy the DVD

Same here, thank god for netflix instant. Loved all the dark comedy and weird gore. Also really found the 'this was supposed to be a play' jokes pretty good.

And even though it all takes place in one setting, it still didn't slow down or get boring, it moved right along making jokes until the ending... good stuff... this needs to be seen by more people!

PS: It comes out on DVD THIS tuesday, the 16th... I will also be adding it to my collection... $13 through amazon by the by...

Netflix Instant Play! :thumbs up:
here here, for helping audiences find movies they would otherwise never see

A netflix viewer here also, who probably would have never seen this amazing flick if not for it coming up in my "movies you'll love".

They were right.

Just saw this on Netflix Instant Viewing too, really creative and powerful film. I laughed through most of it but the ending almost made me cry like, as Lo would say, a little bitch.

Just watched it on Netflix too, great fricken movie!! Yeah, be buying this on DVD soon too. Haven't had anything hit me as hard as this since the original "The Crow" with Brandon Lee. Really beautiful...and dark.

I also saw it on Netflix because it was a "Movie you'll love". I don't know why but the ending struck me as profoundly sad. It reminds me of the first time I read the myth of Orpheus's decent into the underworld.

reply

Absolutely brilliant. I would love to see this on stage as well.
The way it was filmed allowed the focus to be on character development, in its purest form...with only their dialogue.

I'd go on and on but most posting about this movie feel the same way I do. Hope more people join the club.

this movie was interesting with some humor and moved at a fast pace which kept it worth watching for the most part. But it was the end that really struck home and made this a very good film. The sadness and the twist just tied everything together and put a serious tone over the whole thing.

I was really interested in seeing this after all the comments, but it was almost unwatchable!

The acting was bad, the script was lousy, and the pacing was terrible.

Visually, it's clear that digital is starting to look better. The choice to set the ENTIRE thing in front of a black backdrop was just tedious, though. The whole thing felt like a mediocre collegiate stage production.

reply

it did feel like a stage production done cheap. And as a person who has enjoyed theater my whole life, i dont think that is always a bad thing. The movie was intentionally shot like a play and the fact the emotions and the plot and the twist are still pulled off is what makes it a good movie in my book.

However, i can fully appreciate why most would not like this film and i cant think of too many people i would suggest it to because it requires a unique sense of taste.

reply

Yeah, I've got two music degrees and have done tech work for theater stuff for the past decade or so - doing light design, sound design, live sound reinforcement, stage managing, stage hand work...you name it. I like a variety of staged entertainment, but I agree with the review that's recently come up on the main page: that it's "sometimes insufferable".

reply

I think you're incredibly pretentious.

reply

Ah well if you thought the setting was terrible then perhaps you should stick to your Michael Bay, Steven Spielberg sort of films. Lots of flashy special effects going on there.

reply

I actually really liked the setting, and I thought the special effects were fine, especially given such a small budget. However, I often dislike flashy, overproduced effects. I felt that the whole movie came together quite nicely. It all seemed to...fit; hard to describe, I suppose. It would help if viewers enjoyed the music scenes and found the humor amusing, as I did. Overall, I went in expecting a crappy, cliched horror movie, as a friend and I were watching a bunch of B horror movies (some were actually C level) on Netflix, but walked away having seen a fairly unique gem of a film. Also, someone needs to put a clip of that waiter/bartender's awesome dance routine on Youtube.

IMO, this movie is just plain strange... I haven't lol'ed so hard at a demon who is satirical since Hellboy. This movie isn't very well acted, or written, the ending is SOOOOO predictable, this is just a silly movie. It's one of those ones you have to watch just to laugh at. All in all, I had some fun with this one, and that's all that matters...

THe ending was predictable, but still kinda sad. WHen you think back after seeing the ending you see How Lo really Felt.
