Someone summarize the plot of this film.

Neither the one review, or any comments on this board actually talk about what this movie is about. I see all these ambiguous comments where people are discussing Camp Hope without actually saying anything about it.

I've been seeing this movie pop up around the internet and I have no idea what it is, except some sort of religious summer camp filled with bible nutjobs.

I'd appreciate if someone could give a coherent summary of this film so I can figure out if I actually want to watch it.

Okay so I just watched this film, mostly because of curiousity. And let me tell you, it's not worth wasting your time on. Especially since you don't seem like some extremist Christian who would go to a Christian camp that tries to brain wash you.

The plot is as follows:

Kid thinks he's haunted by some demon, goes to Christian Camp, random Christian gatherings and crap are shown... FOR WAY TOO LONG, a few scenes which are meant to be scary are shown... but they're about as scary (or maybe even less) than anything you'd see in Charmed.

I mean without spoiling the plot I don't think I could tell you more. I guess it is about a person's struggle with faith and there is a marginal amount of character development, but unfortunately it's practically impossible to care about the characters. The only part of this film I found interesting was to see what my friend went through when he grew up as his parents are crazy religious fanatics (his dad is a minister)... he is an atheist, enough said.

Anyway don't waste your time, this movie gets like a... 2/10

Praise Satan!

I really couldn't tell what its message was. It was all over the place thematically. I supposed it was trying to be a psychological morality play about the supposed evils of teenage sin versus the oppressive hatred of these dogmatic sects. But it wasn't even executed well. I don't get the whole statue thing. The "demon". The Nordic albino kids in the woods. It was mostly preachy religious chatter with a little bit of fantasy.

ok so here it goes.

there are a bunch of Christian extremists, i really cant differ US Christians baptists, catholics or protestants, cause they all look the same. they are in some kind of "Community" - a group of people, extremely devoted to religion - not Christ, but religion. forget Jesus, it only matters what Paul said - sex is evil. that's the premise of the movie.

so, there's an intro - we see a "father" talking to a rebel child, and we should figure out imediately that the kid was or is somehow related to the story.

next, it's a camp - a *beep* of chirstians, believing that God is achievable through retarded behaviour, and singing faggy songs.

there's this boy Tommy, who sees a demon - an "evil one", that God so conveniently putt right next to gay religious persons. it is important to know that a Demon, mostly looking like an animal, has a power greater than 10.000 prayers.

Tommy has sex with a hotty, and she IS hot - the only thing worth watching in this movie actually. she then gets banned from the camp, for trolling religion, and that sex act gives +2 to the strength of animal demon. he is kind of a voyeur.

demon later makes religious fags go nuts, only by psychic powers, he only rapes father Phineas.

the end of the movie shows that tommy figured it out - sex is way better than fake religion, and that father Phineas and his gay friends really deserve the worst punishment for their profane beliefs.

there, if you wanna watch it, somewhere in the middle, you see the panties of a hotty, and you've seen it all that matters in this movie.

haha brilliant, thank you

second to last paragraph sounds fake tho because if the demon was real why would protagonist think the religion is fake

Did you really think there was anything in this movie that made you think any of the characters were gay? Or are you just a homophobe looking for any place possible to be homophobic?

And what is your rape comment about???

reply

That's probably because very little actually happens in the movie.

It's about a summer camp for religious kids. One of them starts to suspect he's possessed. But VERY LITTLE actually happens throughout the movie. It's quite dull. It gave me a few (unintentional) laughs, but not much really happened during the movie.

Firstly.....i agree with the false advertising, rented this movie thinking it would be a half decent horror with jesse eisenberg.I was wrong on both accounts.

My summary for the plot is that the kids have been brainwashed into thinking every-time they sin...the devil gets closer to taking there 'souls'
Hence every-time the kids do something the priest/group says they shouldn't,they get freaked out and events happen.
As regards to the stuff that was happening to the priest,i think the mouthy kid was messing with him.

All in all,i did lose interest and had to watch it in 2 parts because it was so boring.

2/10 but only because the music was weird and gave the movie a surreal feel.

It's not clear what kind of movie this wants to be. At the beginning it looked like it was going to be a satire along the lines of SAVED!, where the characters play it straight and let their excesses and exaggerations speak for themselves. Then it got more serious with the possession stuff and attempted suicide.
