Another year of movies the majority of the general public will not see for a ceremony that no one will watch. The Oscars grow more irrelevant every year.

reply

could be yes, but in the industry it seems to be still relevant. i will watch it though

reply

"Go woke, go broke."

Aside from a small mentally deranged percentage, no one cares anymore. Rightly so.

It's really sad as I always watched the Oscars as a kid. I'm not saying mainstream blockbusters need to be nominated for Best Picture but Hollywood seemed to stop making the movies that were beloved by critics and audiences that would be Oscar winners. Their obsession with diversity isn't a real problem like they claim it to be.

reply

Same here, child of the 80's, grew up loving movies and was lucky to witness the definite golden age of movies. Oscars were so special, an almost holy ritual and I loved it.

That was before the dark times, before the wokeness.

reply

not everyone is an uncultured swine.

Did I trigger you?

Has everyone noticed that the best way to get an oscar nom is to make a movie about the movie industry? I think that shows how shallow and vapid these people are - I'm not saying there are not good industry-wise flicks, but it seems those types of movies are overly represented in the nominations each year.

reply

not really? which other movies are oscar bait, and about making movies?

reply

None of this movies generate interest in me to be honest, i still gonna watch some of those movies because is a tradition for me, but this year nominees are far from Forrest Gump, Amadeus, Goodfellas, City of god (a foreign movie but still a nominee), Pulp Fiction, Saving private Ryan, i dont see none of this year nominees earning a cult movie status in time, they are just some random flick people would forget easily

reply

Not enough simplistic crowd pleasers ?

reply

Hey, arent you that fag dude from the board of Nomadland? are you stalking me or soemthing?

You are a weirdo men, dont be weirdo, be normal, OK bro?

reply

Sweetie, I couldn't possible remember who are you. I just comment on whatever appears on the front page. And btw, you can drop the F word. This isn't high school.

reply

Ok, i feel better now the last thing i need is a some weird ass pompous weirdo obsessed with me

reply

The only good movie in your list was Pulp Fiction. Goodfellas was ok.

However, Judas, Chicago Seven and Promising Young Woman are all good movies.

reply

I've seen 5 of the 8 best picture nominees. I'm happy that Trial of the Chicago 7, Promising Young Woman and Judas and the Black Messiah were nominated. I'm happy that Glenn Close got nominated for best supporting actress. I would have liked I'm Thinking of Ending Things and Never Rarely Sometimes Always to get some nominations. I think Nomadland is going to win picture, director, adapted screenplay and editing. I think Carey Mulligan will win best actress and Chadwick Boseman will win best actor.

reply

The only big disappointment for me was I thought Tigress and Tweed deserved a best original song nom (and win)...honestly, that is the best original song since Glory won from Selma.

I also thought Rosamund Pike deserved a nom. She was brilliant in I Care A Lot.

reply

Looks like a lot of obscure and woke stuff nobody cares about.
