Haven't Even Seen It - but crying!!!!

Just bought the soundtrack off Itunes and downloaded the song sung by Terrence Stamp and I was in bits. So moving and I can't wait for the DVD.

Oh god the final shot/scene of the film nearly had me in tears, incredibly somber film.

Nearly? I think I cried at least for an hour in total.

Admittedly I do cry at the drop of the hat but this film I think was different for me as it has real heart and yes it is about a horrible thing - death that will eventually happen to us all but I also think there is a lot of hope in this film about living life to its fullest and not wasting a single moment no matter how old you are. And can I just say Terrence Stamp gives an amazingly understated and sensitive performance that is both entertaining and beautiful.

I have to say that, even though this film really shouldn't work -- it's sentimental and the plot is formulaic -- it won me over on the strength of the acting. Terence Stamp and Vanessa Redgrave give such wonderfully honest and heartfelt performances, and there's a truth to everything they communicate that transcends what might otherwise be a cliched storyline. Christopher Eccleston is also terrific as the son -- there's a lifetime of pain in his relationship with his father that is only hinted at,

I agree. Might have been better of they had developed the roles of a few more characters , but the leads are just great. Stamp got typecast a long time ago, and we see what he can really do here. Wonderful to see what fine actors but nonsingers can do with a song with some excellent tutoring. Stamp’s song goes straight, straight to the heart. “Frank”would have applauded.
