RIP Fred Knittle

Fred was my favorite character and I was so sad to find out he died 1-1-09. He seemed to enjoy life so much-we could all learn from him to appreciate our lives more.

Fred was quite remarkable, a very determined man with a good sense of humor. It was really through his insistence that the movie (originally created for european TV) was brought to this country at all. It premiered appropriately at Northampton's Academy of Music, with the whole cast (except for Eileen Hall, who was then in failing health) in attendance.

I still prefer the slightly different european cut of the movie. But I'm glad the DVD included what was cut from the european version. It's a fitting tribute to Knittle, Hall and the rest of the cast.
