Men are Morons

Why are these men in these type of movies morons? I have seen countless of movies when a man is in the dark about something and he won't even listen to his wife or best friend. People he has known for years. There doesn't even have to be another women involved. Something could be happening to his wife but he just will not listen. This is one of those movies. A seemingly intelligent man becomes a imbecile overnight. I guess the plot would not work if he wasn't. But it is ridiculous and the downfall of these type of movies.

You do know where men's brains are located, don't you?

I've been watching these movies on and off for a month now to replace the dreck sit-coms - rarely watched them anyway, but occasionally I need a break from reality.

I've noticed a pattern of at least two "schticks": One is that the man is always clueless, despite the perp doing everything but sending up flares; the other, thankfully not in this movie, is that the woman meets the hero/bad guy and within minutes (usually) are trying to swallow each other (I keep waiting for their lower jaws to unhinge like boas) and then wrestling in bed and grunting like rhinos. It's gotten to be a joke in our house. They meet, and at some point I tell the wife "5 . . . 4 . . . 3" and by time I get to "1" the wrestling match is on. We've also made a game at spotting the cliches.

I figure these movies are aimed at the bored housewives who get off on seeing the idiot guy nearly get bumped off and is saved by a woman - and those steamy love-making scenes make up for what doesn't happen at home.

Once in a while a better-than-average one comes along, and, I've always liked the Canadian character actors that appear in so many of these movies that they're like family. Most of the time they do good work with crappy material.
