[spoiler] Starts with a Major Goof

Dad's death made no sense whatsoever. Talk about starting with a huge goof. Dude was wearing the cross and apparently died of gun shots to the back. Movie was dumb and brainless entertainment.

LOL! Oh man, I was so busy hating the fact that Cross started with this totally pointless flashback about how he got his magic cross, I didn't catch that. And, apparently, neither did the filmmakers.

And even if the plot hole didn't exist, I can't think of a worse way to start the film. After the (admittedly nifty) comic book prologue, we're dumped into this uncomfortably cramped shot of a father and son, sitting on the bed, I guess, and the Dad's talking about how everyday criminals "walk in the light" or something, and it's just so dreadful. Daredevil, which was by no means a great movie, handled that sort of thing much better, spending a good ten minutes in the childhood stages, showing how the kid got superpowers, and setting up the father's death, etc., etc.

With Cross.. well, it's just yet another horribly mishandled plot point. Who killed the dad? Was it the same person who killed the hero's sharpshooter girlfriend? And why were none of these deaths avenged, or really touched upon other than the hero's first-act moping?

They'd have been much better off either dropping it, or having the hero flash back later on.

Well to the defense of the movie on this one, he says to never remove it, so you can think he actually removed it and got shot...

But still its a terrible scene and all of this "who killed the dad" , "who killed his girlfriend" and Michael Duncan saying "i own you a favor, but just one" where probably made for the sequel... but considering how bad it was, no sequel was made and will probably ever be made, even if they would replace Michael...

Alice is the worst character of all time, she need to die in the last movie. Chris/Jill are RE !!!

I got the vibe that they wanted to turn this into a show on SpikeTV or Syfy, and we'd get more of an explanation then.

Or maybe this was a crap movie that doesn't try to explain itself. There's always that.
