A 'Happy' Ending?? SPOILERS

SPOILERS

So for those of you already in the know- this is a true story of two chicks who love tATu and end up killing one of their moms... yet the Producers have decided that won't "sell" well, so they have changed the ending- as well as making one of the girls American. Why oh why would you need to change the ending?? I mean, isn't that the point of this horrible story?
I found two different interviews with the producer and am amazed with his psuedo-intellectual babble about how this is really a "glittering" and "surreal" happy tale! He even calls the two murderers "honorable!" WTF??

Read for yourselves:

An interview with producer Sergey Konov:

(Interviewer)-Looks like it should be a bloody love story accompanied by t.A.T.u. music…

(Sergey Konov)- Why bloody?

Well, according to the plot, two underage girls kill the mother of one of them…

Yes, it’s terrible, of course… But in this case this is truth that will look like a lie on the screen. There’s no murder in the movie - and this is also the difference between American and Russian cinematography. Russian cinema goers are very cruel. Some of the latest Russian movies prove this. And at the same time we never forget to accuse American cinema in excessive cruelty, violence.

Somebody dies according to the script?

Somebody always must die. You’ll see.

In another interview with the producer Sergey Konov:

In the focus of the plot is a 16 year old cute American, who lives already a year in Moscow, where she has no friends at all. Because of her passion for the group t.A.T.u. Janie gets to know Lana Starkova in a chat, a Russian of her age from a small town in the province. The girls meet in Moscow, to visit together a concert of the beloved group and find themselves dragged into a whirl of unbelievable events. They experience the 'sparkle' of night life with all it's brightness and dangers.

"We decided to change some things in the story, which were told in Mitrofanov's novel, and we changed one of the heroines to an American young girl, who found herself in Moscow as the fate wanted, and tell what happened to these two girls who get lost in this fairy wood and with each step move away into the thicket of this wood and they understand that everything will become more fearful and dangerous. But nevertheless they get out of this wood, escape all the clashes and scrapes with honour. And we have of course a happy end." said the producer.

Seriously? Why change a good story. The only thing that can keep this movie real is to actually keep it real; stick to the actual story!

reply

I agree, but it sounds like they weren't in any way interested in making a true version of the story- AND they wanted to "pretty" it up for the mass audiences.
bluh.

...wait, i read somewhere that the subjects ended up in jail together in one cell or something. is that the happy ending or is that the real story?

The original story was simply TOTAL CRAP. Sex-drugs-sex-drugs-sex-drugs-kill-jail. Nothing worth making a movie. The producers just took the idea of the novel, mixed it with some inside stories from the tatu girls and portrayed the situation of society and show-business of modern Russia, this is a completely new story only slightly 'in touch' with the original book.

It's like Heavenly Creatures 2! Lol. Wow
