Ok I was just wondering why Misha Barton is always playing a lesbian role,or is in a movie with lesbian characters? She had a lesbian role in "The OC",and "Once and Again".She was in a a lesbian movie called "Lost and Delirious" and "Julie Johnson" and now she has another lesbian role in "You and I". Like I don't have anything thing against it or think it is wrong. But isn't she straight so why is she playing so many lesbian roles, or in lesbian movies?

shareAll of the shows/movies you mentioned make a valid point except The OC. She didn't know she was going to be playing a lesbian, or rather bisexual character. They told her about it part way through the second season so she had no choice, but the rest of the movies/shows she seems to have chosen to do herself.
In my opinion she is a bit bisexual. The movies/shows she chose to do were not wide released or all that mainstream, so it appears to me that she felt comfortable in lesbian roles, because she's bisexual, but she didn't want to be under too much public scrutiny for it, thus choosing the less mainstream roles.
Basically I think she's in the closet but trying to branch out by choosing obscure roles allowing her to be more herself.
That's my opinion.

she wasn't a lesbian in Lost and Delirious, she was the roommate and friends with the lesbian girls. just clarifying. and who knows, she might just like the stories and it obviously doesn't bother her, maybe its fun, maybe she likes girls, you never know. who really cares, everything i've seen i liked:)

shareI think sometimes its because casting know that if an actress is happy to take a role as a lesbian then chances are they will be happy to play that role without issue and is convincing, in much the same way you tens to get a lot of actors playing the 'good' or 'bad' character. Look at say Jessica Capshaw, Olivia Wilde etc. Once its clear they are ok with that role they are cast again as bi/gay

I guess this is old, but I stumbled upon this movie on youtube and had no clue what it was. Before I decided to watch it I came here and surprise surprise Mischa Barton was in it. I find it a tad curious as well that she has been in so many lesbian themed movies. I agree that The OC shouldn't really count, but obviously they probably knew she'd have no problem with said storyline. Still, I see nothing wrong with it and think it is great she is willing to take such roles and obviously cares for the community or she probably wouldn't have bothered with so many roles. Although I agree with another idea someone else posted, which was that since people know she's willing to take these roles she gets offered them. It wouldn't surprise me if some lesbian filmmaker (or whoever made this) approached Mischa and asked her. I don't think she's really been doing a lot recently. I would agree with another poster in that I think she could be bisexual though.
