best religious critique in a long time...

People like throwing *beep* to this movie, but i really enjoyed it.
I thought the best part was that scene where Michael Cera is asking questions about the temple. You know, how did they bould it if no human could enter, did the builders get a few minutes to leave after they finished, did bugs also die when entering, how did they clean it, and so on.
If you had a religious education and think about it, the explanations to those questions sound TERRIBLY familiar. They're just answers that make no sense and contradict with each other, but serve the purpose of eliminating doubts about a pre stablished belief.
I know it's just a joke in a stupid comedy, but i haven't seen any religious critique like this coming out of Hollywood in a long time (maybe ever).

I agree that it is rare. I was wondering how much people's reaction to this affected their enjoyment of the movie. There is one other recent film I can recall that is critical of religion: THE INVENTION OF LYING.

I didn't hate it because it questioned religion. I hated it because it was sloppily written, directed, and edited.

I call movies that are considered 'bad' hated movies.

Is say the fact that it pulled religion apart in a joking magnet made some people dislike it. I think some people ended up conflicted. They probably thought it was funny because it showed how ridiculous the belief is, but then they might think their mythical good won't accept them in the fake afterlife, so they say the movie is brad thinking god will hear them rejecting this film.
