Never gave him an AIDS test? *Spoilers

I am not a medical professional so I really don't know but my first thought when Jim Carrey said "no one ever gave me an AIDS test, *beep* Texas."

He faked his records to say that he had AIDS and was faking all the symptoms, so why would they give him an AIDS test? Is it standard procedure to give AIDS patients AID tests?

My guess is that they were going off 1 test and never thought to retest him. False positives happened, even in the 90s.

I watched Steven Russell's interview,I think
"I "almost"got away with it"(title:Got a boyfriend to support.<so funny)

Russell said He never get HIV test in prison system.
Maybe he meant no one suspected his faked document.
