Can ANYONE explain the point of this film?

Can the director even explain? Please, enlighten me.

Its a pretty enlightening and interesting character study.

What about the forests?...... NOPE!

What's the point of your question?

It's a "slice of life" type story. These don't necessarily have a well defined or plot. The point is in the character interaction.

What is the point of any movie?

I agree that a movie needn't have a point. But in this case, I think the point is that we ought to have open and loving hearts, as Poppy does.

Start with the title: "happy go lucky". It seems that Poppy is just that, and she certainly appears so. But is she? Some say she is shallow. Look at her messing around making the bird masks, what fun!

But she is very serious at times (eg: in professional capacity when talking in the meeting in class), that is, equally her personality.

So maybe the 'shallow' 'fun' side is a coping mechanism. Maybe it is the way she wants to be. Maybe it is a release. May be it is really her, but she is also grown up.

Making the bird masks was a key scene. When she made the masks, it was a weekend: she was planning a lesson, which worked well. So her 'fun' actually worked to support her professional life. What was fun for her was also fun and therefore engaging for her pupils - a much better strategy that sitting and writing a lesson plan - but it also showed dedication.

A character study with a believable character and yet an unusual one.
