Tiffany's sister?

You think she really didn't want her sister to do well, considering she seemed to be against her and Pat from the get go, and then even brought Niki to the dance? Really, it seems to me she had it in for her own sister.

reply

She's not so much against her sister as a social climber and conformist, and resents Tiffany's rebelliousness.

Tiffany's sister seemed jealous of her and generally unhappy, perhaps why she was obsessed with material things. I thought it was her BIL's idea to bring Nikki saying that Pat said that you shouldn't give up on a marriage.

My sister acts something like this at 17 years older than me. I just usually end up feeling sorry for her and whatever competition goes on in her mind.

She doesn't want Tiffany to do well,(it pretty much told us how she felt when she said that).

But her sister (Veronica / Julia Stiles) actually introduced them. No clue why. It was clearly a setup by her for them to get together so she must have somehow at least thought that they might be a good fit for each other.

Nikki is likely Veronica's best friend is my interpretation. As mentioned by Tiffany in the diner, the whole dinner was possibly a setup to spy on Pat. Tiffany was probably only invited to the dinner to help determine how Pat acts around another woman. Sometimes people are biased in favor of their best friends over family.
