When Tiffany changes her mind about the letter

I was wondering what made Tiffany want to get something in return from Pat? Was it the previous scene when he gets rid of her booty call?

I'd be curious if the book elaborated on this. I'm rewatching it now, and my guess is that it was always her plan to use the letter as leverage. Maybe she decided to wait on asking him for something until the second time she saw him to see how much it meant to him.

To me it seems like she always kinda knew she liked him and only in that moment did she really come to realize it. Also the whole thing with the cop asking her out and then the creeper at the door pushed these needs of getting something back and doing something just for herself to the front... Just my thoughts:)

Small tip : don't overthink this movie.

When I first saw it, I loved it and was completely charmed by it (probably because of the good performances and getting caught up in the flow)

Later I saw it a second time on tv and I realized the actions of all the characters and the chain of events are quite strange if you start to think about it and lots of small things don't make sense or are unexplained.

The story arc is far from watertight...Perhaps that's different in the book I don't know

That's why the characters are in therapy.

she is taken with his being protective of her right before, and decides to force him to get closer to her with dance, using the letter as leverage.
