Question about NFL Football

This film portrays some violence at a Philadelphia Eagles game, with anti-Indian chanting. Does this happen? I’m from the UK and have not heard of this kind of hooliganism before. Do some Philadelphians dislike people from India?

reply

This scene is likely unrealistic but I can only speak for the professional team in my area.

There is not likely to be any violence between people cheering for the same team. There is some occasional violence at some games. If it happens, it usually occurs after the game when some people indulged in too much alcoholic drink and then get into fights with fans from the opponent team.

reply

I'm from Philadelphia and a huge Eagles fan! I believe this is not very likely at any game that any Eagles fan would hate on another regardless of their ethnicity.

reply

Pretty much every NFL team has fans that will get into fights. Mainly because of drunkenness and ignorance. But it never really starts with ethnicity.

reply

Eagles fans are notorious for being the worst behaved fans of any team in the nfl.

I didn't hear any much, though there were the parkling lot taunts when Pat got there and was standing by the bus of Pat being a loony bin person..and naturally he got fighting, causing another of the family arguments when he got home..

No, and this is one of the many reasons why this is such a terrible movie.

reply

Philadelphia fans "dislike" people in general.....and are notorious for being among the most low class and despicable in sports. Poetic justice that the next time the Eagles win anything will be the first time lol. Hell they even booed Santa Claus!!!!

Eagle home games were so raucous with so much violence and misbehavior from the fans, the city of Philadelphia actually set up a judge, jail and court right on site during the 1997 season. They could instantly arraign, try and sentence anyone who was arrested. And the cops didn't have to drive them anywhere, they cuffed the miscreants and marched them straight into the stadium courtroom for a quick trial and sentence.

The following year the court was moved to a nearby police precinct where it stayed until 2003. But the Philly reputation, already considered worst in the NFL, was cemented for all time.

I've never been to an Eagles game, but have seen NFL contests in Denver, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Houston, Indianapolis and Detroit. Detroit was the absolute worst for drunken violence, not even close to the rest and way beyond even what was shown in Silver Linings Playbook. I would hesitate to take my wife or kids to any NFL game and never one in Detroit, Philadelphia, Oakland, Jacksonville or Baltimore, probably not NY or New England either, even if heavily armed.
