The beginning scene of the movie????

What did this have to do with ANY of the rest of the movie? It was never referenced or came back....I have no idea what that was all about.....

reply

the only rational reason was that it has like happened before to other girls as her mother mentioned it before trying to kill her again. but the film didn't like make any concrete linkage.

reply

was it the same boyfriend ???? probably not but thats what i thought

I don't know if they even say what that first girl's name was but my thought was that Molly was this girl reincarnated. The point being that even though the first girl was killed that it never matters because she was either going to be reborn or eventually fulfill her destiny to become evil anyway....but yea they never make any of that initial scene link back to the rest of the movie so who knows.

Lol, that part of the movie was actually pretty clear.
The girl's name was Laurel, cause it was written there o.o
And she can't be Molly reincornated cause when Laurel got killed it was 1997. So I don't think Molly was born after that.........
They show that girl's story to show us that the whole thing happened before, and that Molly wasn't the only one. It's not really that difficult to understand, you know.

Though the movie sucked, Jessica Lowndes was pretty in it :D

Exactly!
Why would anyone assume Molly was the only one, anyway?

"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus."
"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."

You can answer a question without implying that the person who asked it is an idiot.

reply

Perhaps. I was a very passive aggressive teenager back then. However, people weren't as sensitive on the Internet as they are now.

reply

I felt the same way. It adds nothing to the movie at all. I guess all in all the first and last of the movie was bad but the middle was ok.

reply

I think it was just supposed to be shocking, because parents usually don't kill their children in movies. They're usually who give their lives to protect.

Hey folks, mari annum is correct. This first scene was included so that we, the viewers, would know that what is happening to Molly is not an isolated incident. This has happened to other kids whose parents made the same deal. Add this scene to the movie and at the end when Molly does not die, but passes her 18th birthday and becomes evil, we "know" that there may be many more evil ones out there who were given life this way. And also some who were "set free" before their 18th birthday.

Basically, the first scene implies there could be a large community of these evil ones walking around.

i agree with poeophelia82... ha.

but mari_annem2 and macgirl66 make a good point to listen to... it showed that this has happened before. alright, good deal. but still, in my opinion, there should have been more to it. more of a connection. cuz personally, i waited the entire movie for a connection. they could have added something to show it. like, seeing dr. emerson at the scene of the crash would have even helped a little more! or having the dad reading a newspaper article about it (the incident in the opening scene) and fretting about it. just... SOMETHING! ahh. hah.

reply

It's just what macgirl66 and mari_annem2 are saying.

Basically, there's a large community of people who sold their children's soul to the devil and would become evil by the time they turned 18. What i could take out from this is that it would be only girls, seduced by handsome boys. Laurel's father knew what he'd done, and wanted to save her daughter before she turned 18, this is an introduction to the whole situation, so it's not as pointless as some people may think.

Another thing i've been thinking is about Dr. Emerson having been one of these girls back in her time, but decided to get some other girls for the "community". The same thing with Alexis, she's a "good" girl from the "good" community, and she was taken in the community by her grandmother, or even probably her whole family (i'd even dare to say her mother wanted to get out or something like that and was killed because of that).
