Is a second series likely?

It all went too fast. I thought it was excellent, particularly the final, retrospective, episode where the Fieldings had Lord Newcastle beaten up to get the money. A hoot. It was painless history - I knew a little about Henry Fielding, but not the extent of his passion for justice - fine adult entertainment, and so refreshing to see the great Mr. McDiarmid as a hero, rather than his usual bad guy role. I do hope a second series is commissioned. Don M

I too am hoping that it will be recomissioned. I don't think I've seen a show quite like City of Vice before. It's historically accurate and informative, whilst also telling gripping storys with engaging characters. The only thing I don't really like about it is the title, which sounds a bit tacky in my opinion.

The viewing figures have averaged at about 1.4 million viewers, an approx 7% audience share which isn't bad for a niche market show. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the powers that be at Channel 4 decide.

God I hope so. They only made 5 in the series which isn't enough to get to
know the brothers and the good they were trying to do. As you said that will be up to Channel 4 !

Having watched the rubbish of the Tudors, this series is far more accurate and informative then any period drama I have seen in recent years.

Brilliantly told and well acted.

The best films are made in an intelligent format.

Well, let's hope Channel 4 is easier to get funds from than the Duke of Newcastle!

And I think it would be a lot harder to get the Ch4 execs in a dark alley and scare them with a cudgel!
