I actually enjoyed this...

Watched this on Amazon.com for free as part of my Amazon Prime membership. I was browsing through their 'free-for-Prime-users' content. Had never heard of it before.

I admit that it only really caught my eye because of Adrian Paul, who was awesome as Duncan Macleod in HIGHLANDER.

First of all... I gotta say, he could STILL be portraying Duncan Macleod. He appears to have barely aged in the 13 years since the last episode aired!

He put in a good performance, and he wasn't the only one. All the acting was good, actually. I especially liked his interaction with the President's nephew (the highlight of which was at the exotic car wash). :)

Anyway, while the movie isn't going to garner any Best Picture nominations, it was worth the watch. It managed to be quite creepy and had a lot of tension, and held my interest to the end.

SPOILER ALERT:

I was expecting the government to be corrupt, and for the President and staff to be controlling the machines to their own ends. While the idea that the eyeborgs were actually running the show and that the administration was fake is quite unbelievable, I actually liked it - it's rare these days that a twist ending actually catches me off guard, so I was pleased to not have seen the end coming from a mile away as what seems to happen with most films these days.

One thing I didn't get was the issue of the money that came from the government of the other country into the bank account of the musician and his girlfriend. Why did the money get transferred to them, and why did the eyeborgs kill her for investigating it? I missed something there...

That's the country that they attacked in the end of the movie stating that's where the terrorists came from. It was a set up by the eyeborgs making people think the terrorists transferred money to the nephew to blow up the president.

Agreed. This was an enjoyable little sci-fi action thriller.
