Well, hey, I have always loved Val Kilmer, but this is a sad statement for him. He has obviously let himself go physically, is much less attractive, etc. That's okay; I would still like him, but this movie was so poor! A sack of potatoes could have played that role!
Remember when Val used to get paid 8 million a movie, now he was in this mess that cost only 8 million to make, and its not that it was arty.
Val must have gained the weight for something else and like said did this movie as a favor, but dam, Val at least change the script so your not a marine. You could have just as easily been an old college buddy in the movie.

Haha, an old college buddy who throws knives into people and beats them up with blueprints. Probably lost that leg while drunk driving too.

Gary Cole made this a good movie, but I wish they had gotten somebody else to play the ''hero''. Somebody who could actually match 'ol Gary in acting talent, not a hack like Kilmer.
He will be 50 years old next year, so we can't expect him to be that handsome young man from 10 to 20 years ago. He doesn't look bad either for his age. He is a bit long in the tooth to be playing a Marine. I have seen some men in their 40s go over to Iraq, but they were in the National Guard.
Jim Morrison was good, also liked the Saint...but thought he was awesome in heat...and some of his earlier work. Real genious or something... A real waste. "I have seen more than most, but less than a few".
You know I was eager to see this because I have always loved Val Kilmer. "Real Genius" is one of my favorite movies. And I loved "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" but it didn't seem like his heart was in this performance. And I LOVE Gary Cole! But again this movie was missing something. It just felt like everyone was going through the motions.
