First episode

So I overcame my repulsion with their treatment of Starfire and gave the first episode a shot. The best I can say is that the Robin/Raven part of it was not bad. The rest was pretty bad. Does it get any better? If I hated the first episode do I have a chance with the rest?

Starfire fills the room with fire so hot that it completely ashes the three guys through and through. But everything else is fine like the picture of Raven.

The script must have said "a trail of games leads away from the overturned game display" because there is a trail of neatly and obviously placed game discs perfectly lined up in a line around the corner. Adults did this. Adults saw it in post production and gave the thumbs up. Also, can anyone think of a better animal to turn into to steal a game from a store?

Robin killing a bunch of dudes to get to the main guy but then not killing him reminded me of CW Arrowverse mentality. In which Arrow would kill 15 guards to get to the leader and then not kill him because that would make him as bad as he was. Turns out Burlanti is one of the writers/producers of this. Those CW shows are successful, right? Burlanti does this kind of shit. It explains a lot.

I like that there is a sorta cool religious cult trying to save the world by killing Raven and Robin's involvement in that. That is probably the Geoff Johns influence. If it were not for this aspect, I wouldn't even be asking if it were worth continuing. I really am bummed that they didn't do a better job with a team that has so many great stories to pick from.

Are we still pretending you're not actually watching this show?

Watched the 2nd episode. Remotely better. But still, the show is 3/10 tier. I heard that the show runner changed after the 2nd episode so I might give it ONE more shot. But honestly, it is so bad that I am having trouble mustering the desire to give it that one more try.

I endured the horrible shit in Arrow for three seasons just for the good fight choreography of superheroes I am fond of. So I have a certain level of tolerance for utter idiocy. This show is harder to take than that sour CW quasi-drama.

Well. Bummer. This show is pretty damn good. But yeah, the pilot was rough. Stick in there till the Doom Patrol ep.

I was a huge fan of Morrison's run on Doom Patrol. That they show up in this might be enough to keep me watching at least until then. Thanks for the heads-up.
