My overall opinion *Possible Spoilers*

Alright, so here is what I thought about the movie...

Just to start things off on a positive note, I really enjoyed the soundtrack. Andrew Cisneros' original compositions, I thought, really gave the scenes a more bittersweet vibe which I think really adds well when combined with all the gritty violence that these people get involved in. So yes, the soundtrack was pretty good, my favorite song is "Pluto." I love that song. Now, moving on.......

Going back to Andrew Cisneros, I really find it amazing how natural he seemed to portray his character. According to an interview with director Agustin, our main actor didn't really have a lot of professional experience beforehand, it was just him living out in the Bronx for about three months, and to me that just shows how Cisneros really seemed to take this role with nothing less than 100 percent dedication and commitment. Sometimes a lot of actors, more well known ones especially, I feel go into roles and just sorta act like they are reading directly from the script, but with this newcomer, everything just flowed perfectly. I hope that in the future we hear more news about him because he has the talent, the looks, and enough dedication to take him anywhere in this business.

I also really loved the other co-stars of the film, I forgot the names of the characters *yeah, fail on my part* but I really felt that they presented their characters with such natural grace it was almost like they were just being themselves and didn't even receive any script at all whatsoever. So I definitely hope we hear more from them as well.

Last thing I liked was how beautiful the scenery looked, even the most trashiest places had some sort of elegance to them. So yeah, kudos to the film crew for making the setting look beautiful.

Now, I will discuss some of the elements I didn't particularly like about this film....*btw this is all just my opinion, so don't hate hahaha*

So, despite how natural the acting appeared to be, I thought that the storyline was just too typical and cliche. I've seen/heard about soooooooo many other films with this similar concept, so it was kinda hard to NOT feel like this was just another film about a bunch of kids in the hood going to parties, rapping, getting shot at everyday, etc.....
So I definitely think that director Agustin could've added more elements to the overall concept of the film. Like, I felt that Agustin should've had the main protagonist Jay go to many more open mic nights, get a better job than the one he had at the gas station, maybe move in with Jenna Dewan's character since his father was being such a d-bag, just those kind of things, you know? Plus, in today's society, we have myspace. A lot of artists have been found through myspace, so I think maybe Agustin should've had Cisneros' character make himself more public online AND in real life. Maybe I'm just smoking something, but this is just how I feel.

But then again, that same interview I mentioned earlier with the director, Agustin wanted to make this film about the kids that go through these type of struggles in life and still continue to struggle. So I understand and respect his intentions with the storyline, but for me personally I felt that this movie could've had sooooo much more depth to it.

So yeah, I hope that you all understand and respect my opinion, cuz that's all it is haha. I also hope that Andrew Cisneros along with the other actors become more successful in the near future.

Overall: 5.5/10
