Greek Mythology for Clueless Christians

The plot of this film has virtually nothing in common with the original myth (not legend). Hera was not at all OK with Zeus fathering Hercules and did everything to have him killed. But the scriptwriters must have thought that a rape by a twotiming God would go against the sensibilities of the target audience. The end result is a Samson clone, without soul and without humour.

Heathen!!

Samson is the clone of Hercules.

Fighting a religious war is like fighting over whose imaginary friend is better.

I am not Christian but YOU are clueless.

The Sampson legend comes from Heracles, not visa versa. Heracles myth was probably brought to the area that would become Judea and Cannan by known large scale Mycenaean settlers circa 1200 BC. The much larger Samson myth seems an amalgam of about 75% Hercules and 25% Enkido.

For a start amongst the Greeks he was known as Heracles (despite him being both continually tormented and yet amazingly nursed by Hera), rather than the Romanized Hercules.🐭
