Delhi 6 background score

Damn, I really love the soundtrack- the songs are fantastic but right now I am in a state of shock and disappointment, especially after Rahman winning 2 oscars last night- I hope he didn't score the background music..else I am so disappointed right now since he totally lifted parts of the score from Ennio Morricone's 'Cinema Paradiso' (during the scene when the cow is delivering in the middle of the street)..damn man..such a disappointment since Cinema Paradiso is one of my all time favorite movies. This is the second time I am disappointed with Rahman even though I am a big fan - he also lifted parts of the 'Taal' score from the Sarah Brightman - The Journey Home...OH WELL..this man is so totally capable of original scores..why does he do sh.t like this!!

Absolutely shocking!!! and its a STRAIGHT lift from the OST of Cinema Paradiso... not even an "indianised" version. Very sad. Waded through the credits of the film to see if anyone else was responsible for the background score, but no....

Phew -thanks Pranav..I was expecting to be bashed up in this forum..I wish he would at least give due credit...

And also the music when Abhishek returns from heaven and the ambulance starts moving. Its from the oscar nominated movie BABEL (and its Cate Blanchett there, being moved in an air ambulance).

Saikat - I appreciate your clarification and that interesting insight on the history of Bollywood songs accused of being lifted from some place.
"Too bad Rahman is getting the flak for it." - AMEN to that.

"So I'll reserve my doubts how much Rahman is responsible for the lifting." - also 'correct' to the information that Webber was the producer for Bombay Dreams and also Sarah Brightman's then boyfriend- probably that's why the track ' The Journey Home' features in both the albums and also in Taal.

Its really sad that film-makers of Mehra's caliber want to use themes from other famous movies and not trust his brilliant music director to come up with a good theme.

well...what i heard (or read somewhere), the background score of Delhi 6 was not even ready just 20 days before releasing. As Rehman was busy attending the awards for his SD soundtrack, the background score process was severely effected. He even told Rakesh to use some of the tunes from original songs as background.

So what my guess is Rakesh actually picked some scores from Ennio Morricone and even Rachel Portman (from Chocolat). Though im not sure they were credited for that or not.

dude go to a site called "itwofs" you will get all other Rahman's lifted numbers :) and i believe they are quite a few

I don't know which BGM you are referring to, but when I heard the bgm during the end parts of the movie ,I was sure I had heard it elsewhere.
Then I remembered that I had heard it in the "Million dollar baby" movie DVD that I have. So, did Million dollar baby use Cinema Paradiso music?
or are you referring to a completely different BGM.
I was shocked too.Being his ardent fan, I know he makes copies of his own music in different languages but I have never heard any of his tracks being similar to another piece of work.
