HELP NEEDED WITH THE SONG PLAYING ON THE RADIO !

Toward the end of the film, when Om Puri's brother drops a brick on the radio.. it starts playing a song. I need to know what song that is.

Thank you.

An ancient race... as Charles Bronson put it.

"Sajan Re Jhoot Mat Bolo" from the film Teesri Kasam (1966).

Thanks a lot Anwar Puttarjee.
I downloaded the song; and it's fantastic.

An ancient race... as Charles Bronson put it.

Would someone be able to give a brief translation into English of what is said in the song? I Googled it, and came up with several sites that give the Hindi lyrics, and comments of "It's my favorite song ever", "the lyrics are so meaningful", etc. The words seem to be important to the plot development. It's a lovely song, with a video as well on YouTube.

I rented the movie from Netflix, and the English subtitles read:

"Oh my dear, do not lie. One has to go to God..
There’s neither an elephant nor a horse. You have to walk up there.

Your palaces and courtyards will be left here
Why the pride, my dear..Why the price my dear… this head has to be bowed.
Oh my dear, do not lie. One has to go to God..

Do good, good will be done unto you…
Do bad, bad will be done unto you…
What’s the point of writing there…
Everything has to be settled here.
Oh my dear, do not lie. One has to go to God..

You lost your childhood in play..
You slept through your youth.
The childhood passed away in play..
You slept through your youth…
And cried when you saw your old age.
And cried when you saw your old age.

It’s the same old story.
Oh my dear, do not lie. One has to go to God..
There’s neither an elephant nor a horse. You have to walk up there.
Oh my dear, do not lie. One has to go to God.."

Someone else translated the chorus as:
Sajan re jhoot mat bolo, Khudaa ke paas jaana hai
Desist from untruths my friend, move rapidly to Khudaa (the Lord)
Na haathee hai na ghoraa hai, vahaa paidal hee jaanaa hai
Don't wait for an elephant or a horse, use your feet for this journey."

In contrast, one of the top western songs of 1966 was "Eleanor Rigby".
