The movie had some message just like RDB.... but then couldnt keep the audience engrossed... i was actually started yawning towards second half ending....The music is the only thing that just stands apart....n i thought lot more justice could have been done to the music in terms of cinematography... May be the music was too good that I was expecting much more in the movie.

My Rating : 5/10

Not sure whether I would recommend others to watch.

n may I add sonam was absolutely gorgeous...Do check her out in the movie.

okay i will tell you.
this was not a work of fantasy. even if it was fiction, it needs to have some sense of reality.

i have been a delhi resident for the last 23 years. all my life that means. been to old delhi a lot. delhi 110006 pin code.

people today dont fight about being hindu muslims anymore. even if they do, its not on such a large scale. no riots. please. give me a life. no curfews. cmon. the 60's are over.

i was there when the monkey man thing happened. it was mostly with the people of the lower middle class. i dont know who started the rumour. but it was never actually found. the monkey man. it remained a mystery. there was NO monkey man. one has to be really stupid to be believing in that *beep*

and this whole freakinnnn movie was based on the monkey man??? totally insane. first scene to last scene. every f-ing thing is based upon the monkey man.... stupid.

abhishek bachchan has to stop being himself. he cant be this aishwarya rais husband anymore. with his stupid stubble. he needs to get into the character he plays. he needs to stop wearing a jacket when its summer in delhi when every other character is in summer clothes. rakeysh omprakash mehra has lost it. its weird, if abhishek cud do it in guru. he can do it again. but sorry. this was a failure.

sonam is beautiful. but she cant act i guess. overacted in this. nobody in the whole world walks like she does in the movie. such a hot chick cant be found in delhi 6. i mean in old delhi. even if you find one, she wont be single. there are gonna be a 100 guys fighting over her.

waheeda rehman or whoever played ab's grandmom, is typical. every movie. same crap. nothing new.

no shady pool/snooker parlour's in old delhi like the one they showed. man. so fake. cmon. some sense of reality. something we could relate to????

and atul kulkarni. i know he is a good actor. but just that he had a ncie strong role in RDB doesnt mean that he will work in this movie as well. he was deliberately given an artistic role. a different role. than the others. rakeysh thinks that it'l work. he is stupid. obviously it wont. its very clear to the viewer. why he cast that guy again. we are not stupid u know.

nobody drives a convertible in old delhi.

and that wall thingy ?? between the two brothers or whovever they were??? stupid stupid stupid....

and anothe revry bad point
the whole movie had a very digital feel. very fake. the whole movie. the pigeons. the background. jama masjid. everything. even the actors. it was all touched up. very fake. very digital....

all in all

a major disappointment...
saw it first day. was hopeful. a little. but all crap.

Cheers

The movie started off well but somewhere along the line it did lose the plot..

People would agree that it had some kind of message at the end it was trying to

potray..

but i found it radther offensive that certain issues which causes discomofort

are still potrayed on our screens just to make a quick buck.

Whether it be rang de basanti,Fiza,Aamir, Delhi-6, Shoot on sight, or the

latest slumdog millionaire! as if JP dutta wasn't making enought movies on war

with our fellow country!

we (Indians) have the second largest population on earth and yet we can't find

writers who can come up with decent storie-lines radther then making a movie on

flaming someone's belief!

If the film-makers let alone the media, continue to show such things then we as

human being will not be able to live in peace and harmony.

I am really dissapointed with this movie as i was looking forward to it, but now its time to look forward from this pathetic attempt of movie making.

i thought he acted pretty well.. except his hindi was quite fluent and clear.. they tried very hard to show him to look like NRI .. but i never felt like that...

wow you people are mean
to the dude who is a delhi resident
um, my own parents who are most probably your seniors grew up around there.
and there are still families in which there is a wall between the houses.
they know people like that.
Hindus and Muslims still fight - um excuse me - Mumbai shootings - that's never going to die down.
About sonam - i don't think any director has given her a chance to show her talent, I mean in her first movie- what exactly was her role?
okay i agree the climax was slightly too much with the whole amitabh thing
and for the whole absheik thing - I think he did fairly well, i mean he himself said that he hated his accent, but they didn't want to make it so american that the indian audience wouldn't understand (and i'm not talking about my geneartion or teh people in there 20's 30's - i'm talking oldies here). The director grew up in Delhi 6 and this what he saw life as - and things like this do happen, even though most of us seem to be in denial about it ( my own cousin who is visitng from delhi is in denial). And the kaala bandar = Um symbolism, yea a VERY BIG SYMBOLISM IN FACT IT WAS THE WHOLE MORAL OF THE STORY - so yea i liked this kaala bandar.
Waheeda Rahman was beautiful in her role - the way she looked at him with warmth, you could totally see her as his grandma, and taht's the charm the old ldady holds - i loved her role
Now all of you need to quieten down your kaala bandar. it's not such a bad movie at all.

thankyou.

As a Western viewer I am aware that some points that director R.O.M. tries to convey to the audience in Delhi 6 will be lost on people like me and I also understand that Westerners may not see or fully understand some of the criticisms that some Indian viewers make against this film, however I thought the film was, generally speaking, okay. Yes, Delhi 6 clearly and undeniably had its flaws but I was still willing to be taken along for the ride. The journey was a little uneven but I thought it was an interesting direction to be taken to and there were some interesting sights and experiences to be had.

My biggest gripe with Delhi 6 was that some things were left unexplained e.g. some aspects of the Kala Bandar subplot (people were killed, WTF?); the direction of where the main characters were heading was unconvincing, such as Bittu and to a lesser extent Roshan; the actions of some of the characters seemed unbelievable and inconsistent too. The scene where Roshan talks down to his grandmother in one moment and in the next moment weeps in front of her claiming he's lost his direction is just completely and utterly silly. As for the red vehicle Roshan drives, who drives something like that in and around the streets of Delhi?

The film had its moments. For example I thought the Times Square dream sequence during the middle of the film was quite good and nicely executed. I like how events that happened earlier in the film are echoed as well as events that may possibly happen are hinted at as well. It perfectly encapsulates Roshan's mixed identity and clearly who his heart desires without inhibition. The understated music during this sequence by A.R. Rahman is dreamy and beautiful. I think it's nit-picky to criticise the quality of the special effects in this sequence and in the rest of the film. To be fair there were genuine practical reasons why R.O.M. had to employ the use of digital special effects. Read about it in info section of Delhi 6's IMDB entry.

I can understand if people don't like the movie for various reasons (they are after all entitled to their opinion) but to the people who "hate" the movie because it was all about a "monkey" need to get their brains seriously checked.

The movie was about what the monkey (and the fear and pandemonium surrounding the monkey) REPRESENTED and SYMBOLISED- the cracks in our society and the blackness in our hearts. It's acceptable if the message of the movie or its delivery does not appeal to your senses, but to say that Delhi 6 is a bad movie because it revolved around a monkey is pure unforgivable.
Do people not understand symbolism anymore?
