...nice movie after all

Did not expect too much of it - after seeing the imdb-rating.
But i was pleasently surprised by it.

The tension builds up nice and is kept high for nearly the whole film. The charackters are diverse - and you in fact feel with and for them. The story kept me wanting to see it evolve.

Well, certainly not a masterpiese - but, as i said in the topic, a nice entertaining thrilling movie after all.

yup gotta agree, I wasn't disappointed since I didn't expect much. It did feel like madmax in year 2008.

It was cool to see that detective from 'Dexter' as one of the people in the cast.

What I didn't really like about this movie was the violence (the bikers that just kill for no good reason).

reply

You are joking right? Comparing it to Mad Max? And what's with the MUTE gang? They all don't have vocal cords? This is a poor movie. Poor script, poor directing. Near the end when that Yarbro guy just "finds" a lighted up molotov cocktail and throws it to the guy in the car the scenes are so poorly stick together its unbelievable. 4/10 stars by me. And they have 3 because Fred Ward gave a decent performance. The other 1 star they deserved.

reply

if that's what's wrong in this movie for u, u can just take down 2 stars out of each and every action movie on imdb cause they've all got pretty much the same crap - cliche dialogue, infinite ammo and tons of plot holes, as this one does - i would give it 5.5 but i can't - no half marks

reply

EXACTLY. Mad Max and crew weren't STUPID enough to have their bikers riding Ninjas, Samurais, etc and popping wheelies while shooting, much less riding hands-free standing up on their seats.

This is just a motorcycle stunt movie. Don't pretend or expect anything else.

Oh, and Mad Max's "badass" bikers didn't listen to music in the style of Mudvayne, Korn, Godsmack, etc. That's not badass, it's normal, and the producers are obviously clueless.

Total waste of cellulose, digital or whatever they tried.

It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not.

(i realize your comment is 4 years old, but...)

the gang having no dialogue was a plus in this film. the story revolved around the group dynamic of the travelers. giving any attention to the bike gang would have been distracting, and would risk the making the movie hokey with predictable dialogue, or bad dialogue delivery.

i think they did a fine job. this was quite a good movie.

reply

I agree. Good fun. And that's what I expected.

And I too felt the characters were good. Usually in these sorts of films there's always one character I can't wait to see die because they're so annoying. Not in this case.

Similar feel to it as Tremors (I know I know, Fred Ward connection, but it had that feel).

reply

I felt the same connection to Tremors too! Specifically Tremors 3: Back to Perfection where they make a spud gun. And it's in the same area (an abandoned waste yard). I wonder if they got the concept from Tremors...

reply

I'd agree.
I was surprised as well.
Didn't think it was too bad at all.
Of course it's low budget so there isn't much to expect
But It is one of the better low budgets I have seen.

reply

I knew that it was one of those low budget movies with new actors so didn't expect much out of it.

But it turns out that it was better than I expected. Decent performance by the actors. There were a few plot holes and badly connected scenes but common everybody starts somewhere and they get better as they get mature in the industry.

TOTAL CRAP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree!

Agree, better than I'd have expected. 6/10
