El Che promoted war and revolution in Africa

So many times I see with despair how resented people give broad support to figures opposing the centers of power. It is very comforting, specially if many of your peers think the same. But to me, evil doesn't justify evil, murder doesn't justify murder.

For sure, western governments and their military-industrial complex are to be blamed mostly for the violence in the world, financing fascist dictators and profiting by selling them weapons. Nowadays China is doing the same. But that doesn't make things right for violent revolutions as most don't succeed, the ones that do succeed are most likely ending in a more repressive and brutal regime.

I don't have all the answers, but violent revolutions don't appeal to me. I am all for defense of the individual from government but organized civil wars are a whole other game.

To be fair, I recently studied some of his writings about his last period in Africa and it is clear he had a growing disillusion of the movement he was part of. But to me, he is responsible just like the war profiteers and US government.

reply

Hi Joe,
You're absolutely right, violence revolutions don't appeal to me either. Yes, it's part of the animal kingdom and part of our nature but I disagree that we have use violence. If you look at the great, positive influential figures of our time: Jesus of Nazareth, Hippocrates, Mahatma Gandhi, The Buddha (Siddartha Gautama), Muhammad (Mohammed), Plato, Aristotle, Rene Descartes, Deepak Chopra, Krishna, Mother Teresa, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, and the list goes on and on and on.

These influential movers and shakers of their respected times promoted a peaceful coexistence with our different races, genders, religious beliefs and to be impartial with judgement in accordance to law. Aristotle, for instance, did not know of gender equality, yet the finger points in the direction of peace and harmony.

I think we have to look towards people that offer peace a chance and grab hold of positive energy. Negative energy feeds off of our emotions and compels people to do awful deeds.

reply

your kidding right?

Muhammad (Mohammed) ?? Wow your a clueless liberal no doubt.

and Jesus is the Son of God so you better get your head straight before He returns.

reply

Wow... you're quite judgemental for someone preaching faith.

Did I say 'faith'? I meant fear.

The message you are replying to - and at the same time completely ignoring - is one of positivity and love. I seem to remember having read somewhere about a certain Jesus preaching that..?

Oh, and if 'love' equals 'God', then that was Muhammad's message as well.

But I guess your God is better than theirs... right?

So violence IS acceptable as long as you have a reason? An objective?

If so then why not the "pure enjoyment of it"? It seems as 'good' a reason as any...

And are these "yard apes" REALLY that much more of a cancer to this planet than "America"..?

Or, for that matter, all of us - this cruel species ironically called 'humanity'..?

Yes these types savagely kill there own then they get on boats and hijack american ships bringing supplies like food and stuff to them. They will never change...............ever. Its in there "genes" so to speak.

Yes. Let's completely forget the fact that corrupt/greedy corporations are illegally fishing and dumping hazardous wastes into their water...which is pretty much the reason those pirates are going around "jacking" boats. I think we all know how Americans (as fat as most of you are) would react if your only source of food was cut off.

And I guess being "idiotic" is in your genes right? seeing as this is the second idiotic post you've made on these boards.

"When people do not have a past, they must create myths to supplement the facts of their existence"

im american, and i wholeheartedly agree with steadyaromatic (although i think he could use a little less of the generalizations as a means of making people mad 1000 miles away from him). these people are desperate. very few of us who sit on these messageboards and *beep* have known what it feels like to be desperate. trust me, its not a good feeling at all. and imo, you have to have tasted desperation before you can viably comment on these peoples lifestyles. we, as americans, truly have no idea what its like to be deprived the way these people are (and i dont just mean africans; i mean all the nationalities that are born into a *beep* life because of america and other imperialistic governments meddling), so all these assumptions are baseless.

and LOL at that guy who said its in their genes. are you stupid? the amount of variation that exists between yours and black peoples genes is on average the same amount of variation that exists between you and your best friend. there is only one race, the human one.

reply

Humans originated from African lands.. thats a scientific fact folks. Through travel and change in diet, we differ slightly, but thats it I'm afraid. We're all from the same place.

If people are desparate, then they band together for survival and support.. yet the guy above seems to think being desperate means being voilent - not quite. Its in desperate times that the true spirit and determination should shine in us.

If we don't help one another, then we might as well not exist. Guns were made for fear and for profit - since their incarnation, they've never been put down, one war after another and for what?

This film does a great job of showing 2 sides of a desperate people.. YOU choose which one you become! I know that I'd rather gain respect from people through aid than through terror.

reply

I think you have a point. Yet you forget that there is no peace without war. One cannot exist without the other. That said oppression, I think, is one of the most influential things is these cultures. People always reach some kind of breaking point and their actions reflected the oppression inflicted upon them. The thing is many of these oppressed people are misguided in their way o thinking being being "poisoned" by things like capitalism and other government derived problems.

El Che was a revolutionary never compromising his goals, but he had some Honor in his actions. Even if Americans see him as some devil many of the people he helped adore him cause he fought against oppressing governments. Yat as I said before there is always a balance in things so Some see el che as evil some as good.

These movies about africa deal most of the time with young misguided people taking power by force. That's why the revolutions there don't work and get really bloody. Kids should just be kids not murderes.

I've never read so much horse sheet drivel in one place in all my life. I just hope you all are very young and reality hasn't smacked you in the face yet ... otherwise ...

Imperialist America ? Give me a freakin' break. If we were we would rule the world, no question about it. Ya know, forget it, this just isn't worth my time ...
Grow the hell up. 'Che' ... murderous psychopathic bastard. You fools.

reply

Um, America AND England at one point DID rule the world---England basically became an empire by invading and robbing OTHER countries. You have your head stuck in the sand like all you patriotic right-wing nuts. BTW, America still rules the world--mainly because we're had no problem making up excuses to invade other countries whenever they got something we want and they won't just roll over, play dead and give it to us. Look at Iraq---everybody by now knows that the only reason we went over there (and the ONLY reason we invade countries to begin with) was their oil, and that's because Bush and his greedy-a** cronies wanted to control Iraq's oil---same reason our President invaded Libya, and those reasons are all kids of *beep* in and of themselves.

reply

Riiiight. They've been fighting clan warfare for thousands of years, but its everyone's fault BUT theirs.. ok

It's liberal revisionism like this that ALLOWS this crap to keep happening.

reply

Small point.

They ( your words ) haven't been fighting clan warfare for thousands of years with AK47's though have they..

Che didn't promote civil war where different tribes slaughter one another whilst their corrupt leaders manipulate them in order to further their own interests and are in turn manipulated by outside (usually Western) commercial interests.

Why do you refuse to remember me?
