Good movie but ending sucks

It was predictable we knew they were going to get together but that's not the part that bothered me, what bothered me was why did she feel the need to expose everything in front of family and friends? She could've walked away, said she couldn't go through and then tell the family and the government guy the truth later. I know it was for dramatic effect but it was stupid.

Yes it was stupid, she should have pulled him aside. But maybe she thought without the grand gesture she'd have made more trouble for her and him?

I felt like the end was abrupt and super short.

To me the ending was ok, except I would have liked a little montage at the end where they actually get hitched as the movie ending does rather leave it in the air as to whether they can be together....

Yeah, I really liked the first half of the movie. My husband made a comment that the dialogue between them when they were having their sleep overs sounded like real people speaking, not acting. They have great chemistry. I just don't like the ending with the whimsical music and the pat ending. I also feel like she could have just said no to the wedding and told him privately that she changed her mind. Why embarrass him and devastate his family? Despite all that, I really liked the movie. They were both great in it.
