massive faliure

I've never heard of any movie failed so miserably like this one in box office. Don't understand why? Can anyone who has seen shed some light on it? Hows the acting of Elle Fanning?

I found the child actors to be inept. But perhaps it's the fault of the director for not knowing how to get the best performance from them.

The story itself is terrible, and not just because it bears extremely little resemblance to the classic Nutcracker story.

Anything has a fan somewhere, even if a lot of people hate it.

I think there's a point in there, but not specifically for genres only.

The original story in this case has certain elements to that I'm sure some parents may find objectionable.

If this movie marketed itself primarily (yes, a target audience is never a complete audience, anyone in art business knows this) at a family film audience, there's a lot of things I could bet didn't go over so hot.

Something of this stranger a skew honestly may have been better not even trying a theatrical release. I'd imagine this be a movie most of it's fan will "discover" on their own on the years. And I'm not sure really how best you could have marketed this to any target audience.

I personally was never even aware this existed until I bought the dvd a few weeks ago. Whatever marketing there was at the time, I confess it never crossed my path.
