notebook & U me aur hum

The following is the review of film 'Notebook'. So how is this similar to U me...?

The Notebook is an epic love story centered around an older man who reads aloud to an older, invalid woman whom he regularly visits. From a faded notebook, the old man's words bring to life the story about a couple who is separated by World War II, and is then passionately reunited, seven years later, after they have taken different paths. Though her memory has faded, his words give her the chance to relive her turbulent youth and the unforgettable love they shared.

As teenagers, Allie (Rachel McAdams) and Noah (Ryan Gosling) begin a whirlwind courtship that soon blossoms into tender intimacy. The young couple is quickly separated by Allie's upper-class parents who insist that Noah isn't right for her. Several years pass, and, when they meet again, their passion is rekindled, forcing Allie to choose between her soul mate and class order. This beautiful tale has a particularly special meaning to an older gentleman (James Garner) who regularly reads the timeless love story to his aging companion (Gena Rowlands).

Similar concept but totally different story, here ajay Devgan has done his homework by giving a different presentation and a good one, changing the story around and making it totally different, which IMO a very good debut.

That is a ridiculous claim. U, Me Aur Hum is about overcoming the diffculties of marriage and reliving the joys they experienced, whereas The Notebook is about newfound love and trying to dodge all factors which keeps them apart. For some reason, the very minor similarities, i.e. this being a romantic film and the portrayal of a difficult relationship between a couple in love, makes you think this is a "rip-off".... Chuh!

The only part you can say is copied is 'an old man reading a story to an ol women in the nursing room'.

Ajay was telling the story to Piya on the cruise ship for their 25th anniversary.

Besides, he tole her this story everyday, so it's more like the 'My 50 first dates'.

The movie is not a rip off at all... The movie has a similar theme but I wouldn't call it a rip off..This movie is original in its way because having a similar theme would not make it a rip off. Notebook was a triangle love story, class clash rich and poverty theme, and still being together, they don't show going through alzheimer troubles young in their life...she develops it when she got older..Plus U me aur hum is a couple getting married and coping with a mental disability of other spouse...the whole second half was about that, there was no rich and poverty clash, parents against the marriage, there were some similarities...like him painting the house white for her, in the notebook he renovates it for her, and Ajay telling her story in the beginning...but it wouldn't be a rip off, rip off is when they copy everything and do not add something new to the story at all. This was very different in many aspects..his friends got more screen time than in notebook...so they can be called part of the story as well..The kid drowning, did remind of A beautiful Mind, Russel crowe left his kid in the bath tub....this had some similarities with A beautiful MInd when the marriage dealing with mental condition of one of the partners....but I think U ME Aur Hum should not be called a rip off a notebook, maybe story premise can be inspired..but thats it..Notebook itself i think is based on a novel, and there is a oriental movie, a moment to remember...on the similar theme...U can't say this movie is a rip off because I think 80 percent of the movie was very different than Notebook...

Wait a minute, this criticism is a total ripoff. I've seen it in discussions of Indian movies at LEAST a million times. When are fans going to start being a tiny bit original?

A wife, suffereing from alsheimers, is told the story of her and her husband's roamance- a fight to stay together despite all odds.

The differnece was in locations - the cruise ship vs the hospical/old age home and other minute details.

As much as I love Hindi movies, it really is a copy of the story, albiet slightly changed.

Its not like we Indians can't make good original stories- check out Tare Zameen Par or Dostana. And no, Dostana isn't a straight copy of Chuck and Larry, or Strange Bedfellows.

Whoever is denying that this is a rip-off of THE NOTEBOOK needs to go back to school.

It is so obvious....

Husband tries hard and wins over the woman he loves, she ends up diagnosed with a brain disease which makes her forget everything.

The movie starts with the husband telling a story to a woman that the audience thinks is a stranger, but at the end, we find that the husband was just re-telling their life story to the forgetful wife and they share a loving moment again.

Get real. It's a direct rip-off.

When I saw this movie this weekend, I said to my wife :

"Ok, so who stole the idea first? Did the Notebook come out first or did this one?"

Notebook came out in 2004, this one in 2008. Obvious.
