An alternate ending??

Just watched the DVD and I was thinking, wouldn't it have been more interesting if somehow it came out that John "kidnapped" Eli & pretended to be taking him to some people, the guys he called "sir", thinking that Eli would eventually offer him more $$ to let him go?

So the whole thing was a ruse, there was no 20,000 pay off to deliver Eli & John himself had buried all the gasoline & marked the locations on a map with milage to find them again?

It also seemed John knew a bit about Eli & that he was watching him for some time.

How's that for an ending?

We're all in strung out shape, but stay frosty, and alert.

I totally thought of that too - It would have been interesting... and even more so if his wife wasn't even sick - she didn't seem too bad at the end, lol. Would have been great if that was a scam as well - or even better if he didn't actually turn up dead at the end!

It definitely missed some opportunities, I was let down by the ending :(
