'I'm taking time off, deal with it.'

No, you deal with this Corey. You don't talk to me that way. You're fired and don't step foot in my shop ever again. Have fun in yours.

That's what Kat should have said to Corey on the phone before proceeding to call Liz and fire her as well. And you just knew Corey knew what he was doing. He's been there for years and knew he had to fill out a request form and have Kat approve it. We've seen him ask Kat for time and get told no multiple times. He said that with all the BS, he'd been thinking of leaving for a while now. So what does he do? Go right behind her back and talk to Liz instead of being a man and quitting if he was so unhappy. We already know it's going to happen, so why prolong it? Yes, he asked, be he had to have known Kat wouldn't give Liz the authority to give time off. She's so protective of her shop and "family" and he knows it. But this way he can take time off and make it look in Kat's eyes like it was Liz who messed up. I don't think he even likes Liz and that he thought it would've been a wonderful way to get her fired and get a break. Win-win for him. Either way, a sneaky and horrible thing to do. The writers have turned Corey into a horrible person on this show, and I don't know how he can let them do it. I know the others aren't perfect and have their fair share of blame, but Corey's actions really stuck out to me yesterday.

It is a made up story that the writers invented to add drama to the show.

I can' understand how some people believe it is real.

Wow, I get to quote myself today.

Just because it's not real doesn't mean I can't discuss what I saw. I was just on the Seinfeld board a minute ago, and that's the ultimate show about nothing.

OK I understand, as a matter of fact I have been fighting with my doctor because he hasn't been able to help me and I want him to help with a referral to Doctor House. I am sure Dr. House will cure me if I could get an appointment to see him

We all know House isn't real as well, but people are still there discussing the stories presented. Just like every fictional movie, TV show, and book discussed in IMDB. That's what discussion boards are for. And you know this, man.

He's always had his own shop he spends a few weeks a year filming at the shop its all scripted

Okay, no one's reading my posts, apparently.

don't step foot in my shop ever again. Have fun in yours.

Obviously I know he has another shop. And duh to it being scripted. Like I told the other poster, that's no reason why I can't still discuss it as a work of fiction. I know it's on par with a soap opera, and I want to discuss it as one, like a discussion board is made for. Geez.

I thought it was weird he had his own shop. I know it's all scripted.

Kat just said they she has 14 artists in her shop but we only see a few.

Aubry is obviously an actress and I'm beginning to think Liz is too.

reply

Kat couldn't confront her brother about hiring Aubrey. Kat can't confront Liz about her being more than just groupie and actually learning to be a shop manager. You think she's going to confront Corey, her "rock?" This is exactly why the talent should never be in charge, they just don't have the teeth for it.

How uncomfortable for Corey to be having a drink with Liz - Liz is obviously there to support the producer's agenda (esp that meeting with Aubrey - they looked like the same person just with diff hair color). And I don't buy for a minute that Corey goes to Hollywood b/c he's a loyal friend - he has an agenda too - getting himself and his work on TV every week.

reply

I agree, Kat has trouble with confronting anything in a strong, firm way as a boss until it's too late and she has to yell to get her point made. I wish she had some kind of backbone to confront Corey, but it's clear that she's just going to cry when Corey leaves and say that she doesn't know what to do. Kat must have issues if she's so adamant about keeping her "tattoo family" together as opposed to saving her business and make cuts and changes when they need to be made. I just hope she'll get stronger as things in her life change.

And I agree about Corey's agenda, what other reason really is there for this show to exist other than for the artists to be showcased?

Kat has also taken Corey for granted and I think if the only way he can get time off is to just TAKE IT, then he should. Kat's screaming "I'm the boss!" all day is super annoying.

Everything's coming to a grinding halt.

reply

When she yells that she's the boss it's a bit annoying, but true. She is the boss, and if she has a policy for taking time off, especially if it's been around for years, every single employee needs to follow it regardless of who they are or how long they've been there. You can't have favorites as a boss. There was no excuse for what Corey did, in my opinion. In the real world, if he'd done that, he'd get a phone call from his boss telling him to not bother coming in anymore. But since Kat wants things to work out, it remains to be seen whether she'll actually fire him or not. She seems really more over the edge than usual about this. Corey's fed up, too so I honestly think that either way, we won't be seeing him next season.

Although I personally think that Corey is a dick, I'm on his side in this case. Kat handled Corey differently than the way she handled Dan when he asked her for time off so that he could go on tour with his band. She gave Dan the time off even though he hasn't put in the same amount of time and effort that Corey has. Hell, Corey took one for the team by leaving his own shop to come work for Kat and to help get her shop up and running. Kat admits that he deserves the time off but still won't give it too him? There's no good reason for her not to give Corey the time since he's earned it more than Dan and any other tatoo artist in the shop. If I were Corey I'd tell Kat to piss off and quit. Kat is a crappy tatoo shop owner who isn't even competent enough to hire a qualified shop manager.

reply

I agree, I have no idea why she treats Dan so much better than Corey in letting him have more time off. Who knows what Kat's thought process is there? But the way Corey did things seem a little childish to me and I agree that he should have manned up and quit. Nut up or shut up. That way he would leave in a more respectable way than getting fired at least.

I find this (show) funny as I worked in a tattoo shop in the 90s here in Australia and it's a fairly accurate portrayal of what goes on, in the shop and in tattooists minds. It's not "corporate" so to the person saying if Coery did what he did in the "real world" (mind you, I haven't seen the show this year at all, I came here to see when/if it's on again), he'd been booted. Tattoo shops from experience usually run like 'this' as it's fairly easy for tattooists to burn out, I've seen a few all under the age of 35. The show might be scripted but well, it reminds me a LOT of what I saw/experienced when working in a tattoo shop, except for that Aubrey 'thing' of her being an idiot and not being told where to go after many many stuff ups.

I just wish us Aussies had "shop assistants" that did the cleaning up, every shop in Aus I still visit (a good dozen) still have the tattooists doing the cleaning up etc of the actual workspot/their inks etc.

reply

If you want to pretend this show is real then I pretend it is real to answer your statement. Corey doesn't need to work in Kat's show and she needs him more than he needs her. With all the time he spends driving to her shop he is better of working in his shop and spend the time he saves from not driving as far to spend more time with his wife and kids.

A lot of people make fun of the owner (I think his name is Craig) of the other shop but the guy runs his shop better than Kat's. He has a no B.S attitude. When Aubrey set up a make up business it took him 2 seconds to tell her to get it the heck out of his shop.

Kat is completely wrong here, she totally took advantage of their friendship, dissed him at every turn. He came in to help her out after she ran away from Miami and helped her build a business and disrespected his feelings and everything he did for her. I can't believe he stayed as long as he did but it just shows he is a way better person.

I think a lot of the friction started the night that Kat didn't go to see Corey play with his band at the Roxy. She again, made more time for Dan and went to see him, and had time for everyone else, but I think she should have made more of an effort to go see Corey. I think it really hurt him a lot, and no one else seems to have mentioned this.
