I dont get it ... the black cop named Bob ... *SPOILERS*

...

Was he "in on it" or not then?

Why did Zed from Pulp Fiction say "hey Bob, I've been trying to call you for hours" whilst handling police stored drugs right in front of him?

Bob's explanation to the main couple was that he was tracking the murder of the suicide guy. Yet the same murderer was ringing him the whole time and openly stealing drugs in front of him?

If Bob was acting as some sort of double agent, getting close to Zed before he had enough evidence to arrest him, how did he get to know about all the drugs thefts etc in the first place?

What was going on?????!!!!

The answer is: the screenwriter didn't dwell on that and doesn't give a rat's ass about it, because it was just a standard canvas she used to apply the by-th-numbers rom-com paint, if you get what I mean.

Drop it like it's legal precedent!

lets not forget Bobby signed off on the suicide which made them both suspicious in the first place because the guy dove off. kinda stupid they make an important point to point that out and then make it irrelevant.

He wasn't in on it. He had inside info and was trying to act on the leads without the corrupt dudes finding out he was on to them.

So why have the scene where the bad guy is openly taking drugs from the police station stash in front of Bob? And why did the bad guy, instead of going "zomg you've caught me", start saying "I've been trying to call you, where have you been?", as though Bob was part of the theft.

Yeah that's a huge plot issue. By my reckoning Bob is guilty and kind of got off easy.

I thought it was odd because he was on the damn bowling league that guy was on. He said he'd been tracking him for weeks, possibly months but he was in a picture that i'm sure was older than that on their bowling team. Had they not showed the bowling picture and made it a point of her stealing it, i'd have been like ok, i'll take that he was just tailing them.

I think Bob was sorta working undercover, trying to track down the murderer. SO he was playing the murderer like he was corrupt but he actually wasn't.

I think the more interesting point is that cops don't determine if something is homicide or suicide.

Medical examiners do.

But if the cops say "suicide" there wouldn't be any reason to go and try to find out what happened, would there?

Therefore, Bobby was in on it, but it just got swept under the carpet somewhere between script and theater. The second time Bobby was onscreen I told my wife he'd probably be the bad guy. Not that it was going to be a huge plot twist. Just not that kinda movie.

I don't believe it was the original plan to have Bobby be a good guy. Being on the bowlingteam, calling GB to find out where he is, not answering his cell to someone who clearly knows Bobby knows he's getting the drugs from the evidence room, signing off a suicide, with evidence "every cop knows" it's not suicide.
