After watching it the second time, i noticed that through the film, Xiao Yu's hair was slightly longer towards the end of her life compared to when she first met Jay.
So when Jay travelled back in time, does that mean he went back to the time before they met? And, hence the puzzled look on Xiao Yu's face?

You have a very good point there, but then I wonder how the time-traveling mechanic of the piano works. If he came to the past before Rain discovered the piano, then the piano doesn't throw you back or forward in time by a clear amount of time (20 years).
