Rain and Jay - the writing on the desk scenes

I noticed that Rain dies at the desk (in her time) and she never sees the heart Jay quickly dotted on the desk (in his time).

On the overhead shot of the dead Rain at the desk the heart is missing. So she never received confirmation of his love.
