Awesome idea for a PREQUEL! Forward to filmmakers lol!

Western film companies should make the story of the magical musician who created the time travel peace before the piano ended up in Taiwan. Maybe take place in old England since it's in english. It could be a tragic romance or maybe with happy ending. Then at the end show how some old forgotten music professor ends up with it and we can assume he's the one who brought the piano to the school in Taiwan decades before XiaoYu and Xianglun's time.

It's totally do-able and would be an amazing new movie with a great story for Western audiences since they may be unfamiliar with this movie...then they can watch this one later! How sweet is that? They can also finally explain why Xianglun can exist in Xiao Yu's time at the end too.

Actually, I think this is a great idea. You should write up the screenplay! You never know, you might be able to get someone interested.

And maybe name it Somewhere In Time....shares similar themes with that movie and a gorgeous soundtrack.

I'm actually a little bit under the impression they wanted to tie it in with Chopin, or at least make it look a little bit like the relationship he had with Aurore Lucille Dupin. Rain suffers from bad health, so did Chopin and Chopin is often referenced in the movie. In fact, even his relationship is mentioned a lot. Especially the pictures on the wall of the piano room stand out, as if they're trying to say the Secret is created by Chopin.

This doesn't really clarify Chopin's need to travel through time. Perhaps to overcome his illness, although his relationship with Aurore Lucille Dupin only lasted for 10 years so the 20 years of traveling time doesn't make sense.

Then again, if the movie emphasizes on 'fate', then the secret wasn't about a 20 year jump, but about connecting Rain and Jay and it would've worked differently had others played the Secret.

Anyway, I'm not a big fan of such prequels. Everyone has their own way of interpreting the story and pondering about future or past events. No matter how well you'd write a prequel, not everyone will agree which is an outright pity for a movie like this :)
