Did you like it?

I thought it was pretty enjoyable.

reply

Yes, very much. I'm sort of addicted to post-apocalyptic movies and this is one of the better ones.

Since you are a post-apocalyptic movie fan, what are some mvoies you suggest? What order would you rank them in?

I liked The Road Warrior for the longest time. The Newer Fury Road was great! Book of Eli of course.

I liked the movie Air starring Norman Reedus and Djimon Honsou (its about two technicians keeping this facility going and caretaking the scientists in cryo sleep, waiting for the air outside on earth to become breathable again.)

Also, this is sci-fi and post apocalyptic but I Am Mother on Netflix was pretty good (its about a robot A.I. raising a human girl from Embryo to Adulthood in order to slowly repopulate earth).

Try Omega Man, a boy and his Dog and Soylent Green from the 70's.
Waterworld (better than its' reputation) and The Postman from the 90's.

reply

I've seen A Boy and His Dog, it was pretty good and the ending was excellent!

Waterworld was okay, but it was played to death on cable TV and made me weary of it.

The Postman was not what I expected, but a decent movie.

I'll have to check out the others at my local library, thank you for adding a response here!

reply

Try Hardware, another 90's movie.
Another two 70's movies are Logans Run and Damnation Alley.
The 80's had loads, The Aftermath, The Day After and Night of the Comet to name a few.

reply

Some of those are falling more into other categories, Logans Run is more dystopian, and Night of the Comet is more a zombie film. But I appreciate the list and will look into some of these!

I thought about bringing up other movies in my post to the original poster but realized they werent strictly "post-apocalypse movies" in the vein of wastelands with survivors in the ruins of the old world.

reply

I absolutely love the Mad Max movies, especially The Road Warrior and Fury Road.

I remember thinking that Air was pretty good. I also enjoyed I Am Mother.

Here are some that I like (I also included zombie and monster movies. )

The Road
Light of My Life (very similar to the road)
I Am Legend
The Rover
Children of Men
Snowpiercer
Train To Busan
#Alive
Dawn of The Dead
Shaun of The Dead
Stakeland
These Final Hours
28 Days Later
28 Weeks Later
Bird Box
Girl With All The Gifts
Love and Monsters
Waterworld (Waterworld gets alot of shit but I love it)
A Quiet Place 1 and 2 (I actually thought the sequel was much better)

Thank you for the list! I appreciate it : )

I've seen many on that list and enjoyed them. I'll make sure to save this list and watch some of these if my local library has them!

To speak on a few, The Road with Viggo Mortensen stuck with me for several years after I first saw it back in 2016. I sometimes think of it still. The atmosphere/setting of that world was terrifying. The cannabalism was crazy as well. I read some messageboards on that one at imdb. Do you think the ending of that movie was the main character (viggo) dreaming of a positive end for his son? Or was it just a "happy" ending?

Since you like A Quiet Place, you ought to check out The Silence on Netflix. Its a movie that came out around the same time as A Quiet Place and is based on the same novel! So similar story but differences in events and creatures. Its main character is played by Stanley Tucci! I actually preferred The Silence over A Quiet Place because the characters are quickly likable and relatable, and the pacing is great!

#Alive was an interesting movie, and it sure made those noodle cups look so good xDDD

Children of Men is one of my favorite Dystopian movies and its atmosphere/world was terrifying (scares me like The Road, but worse)

I was gonna leave out Dystopian Films when writing you, because I wasnt sure it would fit that "Post Apocalypse Wasteland" theme. But there is a lot of crossover.

I enjoyed it.

I think I enjoyed it on a repeated run more. Just watched it on Netflix again and liked it. It’s not a masterpiece but certainly enjoyable flick. There’s a lot to like here, strong performances and nice cinematography with a decent score.

reply

Yes I enjoyed it. DW knows how to pick the best characters that fit him.

reply

I liked it. It was fun.

reply

I enjoyed it but I thought the ending twist was kinda pointless.
