Ruth's marriage

After viewing this film the one thing I keep reading is that some posters feel Ruth's life and family was something that made her miserable or she longed for something else.

I did not see this at all and cannot believe how so many got that particular vibe. I guess some would have felt she would start a love relationship with th lead but the film never set out to show that. I felt the film ended with her coming to grips of loosing her life as it was, and how his letter and money made her think of a happy time in her youth. sort of feel good message of she can be happy. And her choices were good ones.
