Jehovah's Witnesses and hell

One of the characters complains that a Jehovah's Witness came to her house and told her that she 'and her garden' would go to hell. In fact, the JWs do not believe in Hell. They think that non-believers (i.e. those who aren't JWs) die and are never resurrected. 'Hell' means suffering conscious pain and punishment for eternity.

Maybe they're the JW renegades.

Much the same mistake in 'One Foot In the Grave' somewhere or other. Victor Meldrew muses how funny it would be to find the JWs in the same hell they've been preaching to him. Even stranger, in another episode he finds a vicar with a dog collar standing in his front door, clutching a copy of 'The Plain Truth.' 'All right,' he says, 'how much does it cost?' 'The Plain Truth' was published by Herbert Armstrong's Pasadena-based Worldwide Church of God - it was never SOLD to anyone, it was never distributed from door to door, and certainly never by vicars wearing dog collars!
