Charlie Cox on STONE OF DESTINY

^ An amusing interview tidbit with Charlie Cox about the movie, in which he seems pretty high on it. Calls it "the worst successful heist of all time," sounds like played up as a dryly comedic caper, no?

Thanks for that

Charlie's got a bit of a confused grasp on Anglo/Scottish history!! Hope the movie makes more sense - sounds like a great romp, though.

I get the feeling that it was a bit of a student prank that was outstandingly successful in it's initial goal - to nick the Stone (ahead of the coronation of the new queen, so that she would have been probably the first English monarch in nearl 700 years not to be crowned sitting on it) - but once they had it, they seemed to have run out of ideas as to what they should actually do with it. Typical students, LOL!!

I have to say that I am really looking forward to seeing it in Edinburgh.

Me too, will be there the Saturday night.

So will I, with friends from Italy, Germany and the U.S.A. :)

NO!
Stone taken back in 1950.
Coronation took place in 1953.
Stone given back in 1951.

Four students took back the Stone & not top criminals.
Police left looking silly.
With all the clues left they did very badly.
The students had luck and daring.
The book is a great read, which the film is based on.

The film is close to the book but condensed and a little changed for
a cinema going public.

Stone of Destiny by IAN HAMILTON.
Not by Shakespeare or Dickens a made-up story,
but a true story.

Love film love cinema keep the suits at bay.
