What's your favorite era for women's fashion?
...and state if you're a guy or a girl.
I'm a guy. I despise Victorian and Edwardian styles and think they do nothing for the female form. Chanel's "boyish" looks were a huge improvement, however I don't think women have ever looked better than they did in the 1940's.
Ingrid Bergman, Joan Fontaine and other 40's actresses just look fantastic. Even an ordinary girl-next-door from that era just looks gorgeous with those hairstyles, esp. blondes. Diane Kruger rocked this style in Inglourious Basterds.
However, I understand that women's fashion in the past was very restrictive (and was even more crushingly conformist than men's) and functioned more to stratify society than to express yourself. So today, I'm all for women wearing the style they want to wear, and I like most all of them! There are few styles that can make a woman look bad (in my eyes), usually these are the ones that deform the natural curves and features of women (corsets, huge wigs, chest implants, fake nails, etc).
